We are losing the battle against obesity. A recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association reports that obesity may soon overtake tobacco as the number one preventable cause of death in the United States . Currently about one third of the US is obese, another third is overweight and one third of the population is normal weight. Obesity-related medical costs were $75 billion last year. Experts blame the problem on lack of knowledge when it comes to nutrition and busy lifestyles that lead many of us to make unhealthy food choices, and spend long hours indoors. Because obesity is a relatively new epidemic, the numbers of deaths in the future are expected to soar unless behaviors are changed. It is our goal, at Intelligent Health Center , to help reduce the current epidemic. Scott Isaacs, MD
