News from the Gap™
This example illustrates how difficult the task of weight
management is, given the unsupportive culture in which we live.
Although The Gap makes weight and health management more challenging,
the support of the HMR Program can help you to achieve your goals
in the face of these obstacles.
A report released in March 2007, by the Center for Science in
the Public Interest revealed that Chinese restaurants aren’t
always the healthy choice many assume them to be. For example,
a dish of stir fried greens has 900 calories and
2200 mg of sodium. Eggplant in garlic sauce has 1000 calories
and 2000 mg of sodium! If you’re at a restaurant, ask for
your vegetables steamed, or stir-fried in no, or very little oil.
(If you’re craving Chinese food and want to completely control
your calories, try the delicious Luau Ginger Chicken recipe
on page 46 in the HMR Recipe Book. It’s just 330 calories,
and has 2 ½ servings of vegetables and fruit.) Need a recipe
book? Just call or stop by!
