Group Programs
"Research has shown that patients who participate in a group weight loss program lose more weight and keep it off longer." --Dr. Scott Isaacs, Medical Director
The HMR
Program for Weight Management at Intelligent Health
Center offers a variety of diet options that encourage
rapid and substantial weight loss.
Our Medically Supervised Program is specifically designed for
people who want to lose a significant amount of weight (more
than 30 pounds). We also provide options for those with less weight to lose. All diet options also receive the support, encouragement and coaching of our experienced staff.
The Medically Supervised Program incorporates
the use of weight loss shakes and entrees, as well as a program
for increased physical activity. The Healthy Solutions Program includes the use of fruits and vegetables combined
with HMR weight loss Shakes and Entrees and increased physical
activity. Based on your medical history and physical activity level
prior to entering the program we design an individualized program
for you to increase your chances of losing excess body fat and
provide you with a medically appropriate and complete nutritional
program.

Different From Any Other
Diet
We recognize first and foremost that a weight problem is a
health problem. That's why the HMR Program is offered exclusively
through hospitals and other healthcare facilities. We also realize how hard it is to lose and maintain weight
in today's "high fat, high calorie" culture. That's
why we approach the task of weight loss with a commitment that
goes well beyond "traditional" dieting.
Studies have shown that the fewer decisions you have to make
about what to eat, the more likely it is you will lose weight.
On the HMR Program, you won't have to make any decisions at
all about what to eat. We'll provide all the delicious, satisfying,
and nutritious weight loss foods you need to lose weight. No
complicated food lists. No extensive food preparation. No extra
grocery shopping.
Each week you will be attending a 90-minute class where we teach you the skills you need to practice once
you reach your goal weight. This aspect of the program is most
important. Our staff will coach, motivate and educate you to
implement these skills on a regular basis while living in a
culture that does not support the use of these skills.

100% Nutrition
Taken as directed, the diet provides 100-150% of the RDA for vitamins
and minerals so you can be confident you're getting the nutrition
you need.
Skills to Keep the Weight Off
Of course, any low calorie diet can help you lose weight. The
challenge is keeping it off after the diet is over. We see successful
weight management as a matter of acquiring new skills, not just
learning new information. We'll teach these skills in specially
designed weight loss classes, and then again in our extensive maintenance
program. We'll work closely with you as you learn and practice
these new skills until they become an automatic part of your daily
life.
Weight Management = Health Management
Improving health is an important goal of weight loss. The lifestyle
skills you'll learn in weekly classes are the same skills that
can improve your health and reduce your risks for chronic diseases.
HMR patients can experience dramatic improvements in their overall
health as a result of participating in the program and learning
how to make sensible changes in diet and lifestyle.
No Fads -- No Gimmicks
For over 20 years, low calorie diets (LCDs) have been offered
through hospitals and medical centers nationwide. Most recently,
LCDs have been recommended as a treatment option under medical
supervision in Guidance for Treatment of Adult Obesity (a
reference for healthcare professionals written by Shape Up America!
and the American Obesity Association).
Backed by Research
HMRs medical research, weight loss, and weight maintenance
data have been published in many peer-reviewed medical journals including the Journal of the American Dietetic
Association, American Journal of Gastroenterology, American Journal
of Clinical Nutrition, Journal of the American College of Nutrition,
New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical
Association, and Diabetes Care.
