Tired of taking insulin or other diabetes medications? A new study,
presented at the American Dietetic Association's Food and Nutrition
Committee focused on the impact of weight loss and lifestyle changes
on patients with type 2 diabetes. The study followed 65 patients
for more than a year and a half, from 16 clinics across the country,
using the HMR Program for Weight Management. The patients
in the program lost, on average, 53 pounds. Most patients were able
to reduce or discontinue insulin or diabetes medications. Other
medications such as blood pressure medications and cholesterol medications
were also reduced in dose or discontinued all together. Despite
less medication, patients in the program had improved blood sugar,
blood pressure and cholesterol profiles.
The HMR Program for Weight Management offers a structured, lifestyle-focused
weight management program that can help people who need to loose
anywhere from 10 to more than 200 pounds. The program offers dieters
a choice of options including the option of rapid weight loss under
physician supervision. The HMR Program for Weight Management at
Intelligent Health Center is offered in partnership with Health
Management Resources (HMR®), the nation's leading provider of
weight treatment services to the medical community.
