Dr. Scott Isaacs Elected Fellow of the American College of Physicians
Scott Isaacs, M.D., an internist and endocrinologist practicing in Atlanta, GA, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the society of internists. The distinction recognizes achievements in internal medicine, the specialty of adult medical care.
Dr. Isaacs was elected upon the recommendation of peers and the review of ACP's credentials subcommittee. He may now use the letters "F.A.C.P." after his name.
A graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, GA, Dr. Isaacs earned a medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Emory. He then pursued subspecialty training in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, the treatment of hormonal and glandular disorders.
The American College of Physicians (ACP) is the nation's largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group. Its membership comprises more than 115,000 internal medicine physicians and medical students. Dr. Scott Isaacs Inducted as a Fellow
of the American College of Endocrinology
The American College of Endocrinology (ACE), the educational and research arm of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), inducted Dr. Scott Isaacs of Intelligent Health Center as a Fellow during its May 4th Convocation ceremony at the 2002 AACE Annual Meeting and Clinical Congress in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
Designation as a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE) means an endocrinologist has achieved a level of training and experience consistent with the high standards established and adopted by the clinical endocrinology speciality.
To be accepted into the College, Dr. Isaacs had to be a member in good standing of AACE and meet the qualifications of one of five routes to fellowship.
Helena W. Robard, M.D., F.A.C.E., ACE president emphasized, "The ACE Fellowship recognizes those in our speciality who have achieved a level of training and experience that merits special credentialing."
Approximately 100 endocrinologists from the United States and other countries were inducted during the ceremony. All pledged "to perserve and maintain the highest traditions and precepts of their professional calling."
The mission of ACE is to provide and promote education, research and communication in the art and science of clinical endocrinology and to provide appropriate recognition of advances and achievements relating to clinical endocrinology.
AACE is an international professional medical association with over 4,000 members through the United States and 74 foreign countries. Endocrinologists have specialized training and expertise in the treatment of endocrine diseases including diabetes, thyroid, pituitary and calcium disorders including osteoporosis, as well as cholesterol, nutritional, reproductive medicine and weight disorders.
Dr. Scott Isaacs Earns Diplomate Status in Bariatric
Medicine
Scott Isaacs, M.D., has successfully completed the requirements to earn board certified status of Diplomate of the American Board of Bariatric Medicine (ABBM). Dr. Isaacs, who has a special interest in bariatric medicine (medically supervised weight control and the treatment of obesity), has passed both an extensive written and oral board examination, as well as an, onsite, peer-reviewed Patient Care Review to become board certified in bariatric medicine.
The American Board of Bariatric Medicine, founded in 1970 and located in Denver, Colorado, is an independant medical specialty board responsible for certifying physicians i the field of bariatric medicine. Bariatric medicine is the medically-supervised treatment of obesity and its associated conditions. Obesity, declared a specific disease entity by the National Institutes of Health, is believed to affect more than 58 million people across the nation and has been established as a major risk factor for a number of associated health conditions including hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and come cancers in both men and women.
Dr. Isaacs becomes the 284th physician to pass an ABBM onsite Patient Care Review and is the 246th physician who has earned the unique honor and designation of becoming board certified in bariatric medicine.
